Why we tested 40 prompts over 3 weeks to nail a 5-email welcome sequence.
Our email sequence prompt pack took longer than expected. We wanted prompts that worked across industries, not just ecommerce. So we built 5 test sequences for a consultant, a SaaS trial, a course launch, a nonprofit, and a local bakery.
Each sequence went through 3 rounds of tweaks. The first round was too salesy. The second was too robotic. The third finally balanced personality and persuasion. Along the way, we documented which prompt structures consistently failed (hint: 'write a friendly email' is too vague).
The final pack includes 8 variations for each email in a standard 5-email welcome sequence. Plus a cheat sheet for adjusting tone. It took 3 weeks, but now our beta testers report open rates above 40% on the first email.
